Quote from violin_sophy:
What a profound thought! Recently, one of my piano students at the university complained about my high standard of expectation to her. She argued about the fact that she is only a Music Education major but not a Piano Performance major. I was speechless after hearing her comments.
Generally speaking, many students mistaken about the nature of these two majors. They thought that Music Ed majors are not required or expected to be good musicians/technicians. Therefore they chose to be a Music Ed. major. On the other hand, Music Perf. majors chose their majors because they don't want to teach. These students obviously don't understand the cyle of learning and teaching of oneself -- these two elements are united in one and they are inseparable!
How sad I am for these studnets!
I can't agree with violin_sophy more that if we say we choose to love something, we should love it wholeheartedly (and professionally). First, we are the one who choose it. Second, to love something or someone has a special meaning to it. If we don't mean what we say, we should not say so.
